Last fall, when I launched the Made Visible Writing Class, the editors at Health Magazine held a contest for my class participants. At the end of class, they selected one essay to publish. I’m so thrilled to introduce you to Rita Maureen Thompson, who wrote the winning essay for Health.com

Rita wrote about what it’s like to live with postural orthostatic tachycardia syndrome (POTS).

Today, I’m releasing a special episode of Made Visible podcast featuring Rita reading her essay. Rita and I also have a short conversation about her experience writing and publishing this piece. Coming into class, publishing wasn’t Rita’s goal, and she talks about what changed.

While the podcast is not “back,” this was the perfect time to bring you a bonus episode. Rita’s story is so relatable--she talks about finding her purpose as a writer, vulnerability in sharing, and making her experience visible. I encourage you to listen and check out her essay.
