writing prompts
Writing prompts are a helpful way to get in a creative zone and start writing. Without them, we might find ourselves staring at a piece of paper or a blank document on our computers waiting for the creativity to strike.
Oftentimes, I’ll hear someone speak on a podcast or at an event and their words will inspire me to write. Prompts have the same effect for me--they make me want to grab a notebook and pen.
I love prompts so I want to share prompts that I’ve created or been inspired by with you.
As a paying subscriber, each week you’ll receive an invisible illness writing prompt. If you’re a non-paying subscriber, you’ll receive a biweekly prompt. Sometimes it may be a single word and other times it may be a question with several layers. Sometimes they’ll be concepts I come up with and other times they’ll be inspired by writers I admire.
I’m a fan of personal essay writing. It’s how I best express myself and it’s rare to get me writing less than 2000 words. I encourage you to write personal essays, short stories, lists, or poetry. Choose your own adventure — there are no rules here!
